Clay Matthews Roasts Aaron Rodgers With Clever Joke in Packers Hall of Fame Speech

Former Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews made a clever joke about his former teammate Aaron Rodgers in his Hall of Fame induction speech on Saturday.

Matthews, who played with Rodgers for 10 seasons in Green Bay, said that he was "honored" to be inducted into the Hall of Fame with Rodgers, but he couldn't help but make a little fun of his old quarterback.

“I've always said that Aaron is the best quarterback in the NFL,” Matthews said. “But I also said that he's the best at holding a grudge. So, I'm just glad that he didn't hold a grudge against me for all the times I sacked him.”

The crowd laughed at Matthews' joke, and Rodgers seemed to take it in stride. The two players have had a well-documented rivalry over the years, but they have also remained friends.

In his speech, Matthews also thanked his family, his coaches, and his teammates for helping him achieve his dream of making the Hall of Fame.

“I wouldn't be standing here today without the support of so many people,” Matthews said. “I'm so grateful for everyone who has helped me along the way.”

Matthews was inducted into the Hall of Fame along with six other players, including Edgerrin James, Kevin Mawae, and Ronde Barber.

Here is a list of all the players who were inducted into the Hall of Fame this year:

  • Ronde Barber
  • Edgerrin James
  • Kevin Mawae
  • Clay Matthews
  • Bryant Young
  • Chuck Howley
  • Jimmy Johnson (coach)

Congratulations to all of the inductees!
