LSU Quarterback Joe Burrow Wins Heisman Trophy
Burrow led the Tigers to a 15-0 record and a College Football Playoff National Championship
BATON ROUGE, La. - LSU quarterback Joe Burrow won the Heisman Trophy on Saturday night, becoming the first player in school history to win the award.
Burrow, a 6-foot-4, 221-pound junior, led the Tigers to a 15-0 record and a College Football Playoff National Championship. He passed for 5,671 yards and 60 touchdowns this season, and also rushed for 529 yards and seven touchdowns.
Burrow is the first LSU player to win the Heisman Trophy since Billy Cannon in 1959.
In his acceptance speech, Burrow thanked his coaches, teammates, and family. He also thanked the LSU fans for their support.
"This is a dream come true," Burrow said. "I'm so grateful for this opportunity. I'm going to continue to work hard and do my best to represent LSU and the state of Louisiana."
